Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hormone Replacement Therapy has been the standard therapy for treating menopausal symptoms. Not only did hormone replacement therapy relieve such discomforts as hot flashes and night sweats, but it also seemed to protect against menopausal conditions such as osteoporosis and heart disease. When it comes to hormone replacement therapy, there is “no one size-fits all” solution exists. Each woman's experience with menopause is different and unique so it should be tailored individually.

Bio-identical Hormones
Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is the use of supplemental doses of hormones with a chemical structure identical to endogenous human hormones or hormones that is naturally produced in the human body.

Generally, BHRT is prescribed to relieve the symptoms of menopause, though more recent therapies promise anti-aging effects and possible deferral of the diseases of aging. BHRT differs from conventional hormone replacement therapy, which by definition uses animal or synthetic hormones whose structure differs from those produced in the human body. Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy is used to help treat the symptoms of menopause, perimenopause, and postmenopause.

To properly administer bio-identical hormones, laboratory test of hormone levels (so called "hormone panel") is obtained. From these results of hormone levels, an individualized treatment plan will be formulated and prescribed. The treatment plan may include creams, gels, pills, patches, self-injections, or pellet therapy. Each treatment plan is customized to your individual needs.

We Specialize in Hormone Pellet therapy here at Vintage Wellness Center

Bio-identical Hormone Pellet Therapy
Hormone pellet therapy has been used for over 50 years and is safe and effective, providing a steady level of hormone that lasts four to six months. The pellets are placed in a simple office procedure using a local anesthetic.

Bio-identical Estrogen and Progesterone
Estrogen provides many desirable benefits, including stimulating cell division. Bio-identical progesterone regulates specific genes involved in abnormal cell division,  thereby reducing cancer risk. Bio-identical estrogen levels should be maintained before, during, and after menopause as a means to healthy living. Non-fluctuating levels are important in treating menopause, migraines, PMS, and in preventing osteoporosis and Alzheimer's disease.

Bio-identical Testosterone
Testosterone for both men and women provides needed energy to rebuild tissue worn down by aging and stress. While Testosterone maintains muscle, bone, and mental  focus for both sexes, it is also critically necessary for the heart to function. For men, bio-identical testosterone is a key to not only maintaining normal sexual function and normal cholesterol, but also prevention, treatment, and delay of diabetes.

If you decide that pellet therapy is not for you, Dr. Pham can prescribe other ways to use bio-identical hormones including troches, transdermal cream, and injections.
